Susan Micari, MS. Ed. BCET

Susan Micari, MS. Ed. BCET  is a nationally board-certified educational therapist and activist whose career began teaching homeless children in New York City. She received her undergraduate degree in Theater from Syracuse University, and her Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education in NYC.

Susan helped secure grants that funded libraries and workshops for families in shelters, and earlier fought a landmark 1983 civil rights case that defined sexual harassment as an illegal act in New York City. Today, she continues her work at the intersection of education and advocacy, including teaching Afghan women English while they are denied access to formal education under the Taliban.

Susan is on the board of Belltower Pictures, a non-profit film production company which has won several Emmys, and she is on the board of the Metropolitan Community Church of Richmond, a safe haven for those who have been rejected by their Christian churches because of their LGBTQ+ status.  The congregation is an alliance of people of all colors, orientations, identities and ages.
